What is the difference between a Coach and a Consultant?

A business coach is someone with an understanding of what it takes to run a successful business. A coach will use techniques to explore problems with a business and will tend to focus more on what you want from your business and what it means to you. A coach will help you find clarity and provides you with the tools to grow and move towards your goals.

A consultant is a person that holds a qualification in a specific area of a business. They will perform specific tasks to provide agreed results to clients. A consultant will give you technical and profession advise on their specific area of expertise

Why do I need a Coach?

Running a business is no easy feat and you may often find yourself wanting a second opinion when it comes to crucial decisions you need to make.

Finding and working with a great business coach gives you the opportunity to receive unbiased opinions, see the bigger picture and receive guidance to find better answers than you may find on your own.

A business coach is a professional who understands the ins and outs of running a business. Coaches will work alongside business owners as they grow their businesses, as well as their leadership and interpersonal skills. The coaching process helps to take a business from where it is now, to where the owner wants it to be.

Business coaches can assist owners with just about every aspect of a business, from developing business plans to setting goals and refining business practices. They listen, ask questions, empower their clients, and push them towards achieving their goals.

Do you do group sessions/workshops or do you work with individuals

I focus soley on the individual business owner. By workin 1:1 I get to know you and your business. I get to understand who you are and what you want, why you got into business and how you have set it up. I can then look at the processes that you have in place and provide an outside view at the way things are done. I can help to identify opportunities for new business as well as ways to tweak you current process for greater effieciency. We can customise a plan of action for you and your business, not just throw a blanket idea out there and hope that it works.

What does a small business coach do?

The specific responsibilities and services of a small business coach will vary, but in general they will seek to understand a small business end to end and understand what reality looks like today on business performance, and where the business owner would like the business to be. They will then help formulate a plan of execution to bridge that gap. As the word coach implies a small business coach is more about helping a business owner come to their own conclusions as opposed to executing the strategy for them. They will hold the business owner accountable and provide feedback and advice based on their experience along the way

What should I expect from a business coach?

In short, the business coach you select should be able to help you make progress on your desired revenue growth goals. They can’t and should not that guarantee you will be able to 10x your revenue for example. as that could be misleading but they should be able to help you define and implement strategies that positively impact your revenue goals. They should help you set achievable milestones as well and follow a agreed upon plan.

My business needs special knowledge to run. How can someone outside my industry help me?

You know how to run your business in your industry.

You’re the expert there.

What I know is how to run profitable, stable, successful businesses – and that knowledge is not industry dependent

Can you guarantee I will get the result I want from coaching?

To be frank, no.

The truth is that the guarantees you see on coaching websites are just marketing traps. Read the fine print and you’ll see that they all have a catch – which is that you have to prove that you followed every piece of advice and did everything at exactly when your coach told you to, or the guarantee is void. If you want marketing gimmicks like false guarantees, that’s not me.

I can guarantee that I will deliver sound advice and smart business coaching that is focused on results. As the business owner it is you who will actually do the work in the business and put strategies into place.

I will support you and give you resources to assist you, but I won’t do the work for you. So, the success of your coaching experience depends on your commitment to follow through on the strategies that we put into place.
